Scientists have tried to put the experiments several times on the problem of kleptomania but still there is no exact and complete picture of this disease and its main symptoms. The problem is that there is the extreme lack of information in this field because the potential participants of experiments are afraid that their names won't be kept in secret and that the got data won't be directed to the police.
There are several criteria to find out kleptomania:
- The attempts to resist the disease appear from time to time as well as resistance to steal something that either a person doesn't need or that has no financial value.
- The tension and the state of the pleasure appear directly before every stealing.
- The feeling of satisfaction and relief during and at once after the stealing is felt by kleptomaniac.
- The stealing is made not because of revenge, rage or in the state of irritation.
- A person who steals is not ill with schizophrenia.
- The kleptomaniac's stealing has no companions and assistants. There is no cooperation in such stealing.
Even the extreme kleptomaniacs don't steal every day because it gives too much loading on the psyche. But they find other ways of compensation.
