According to psychologists the majority of people who suffer from this disease are women that may continue their suffering for 15 years and sometimes even more.

Kleptomania was the disease that always provoked negative attitude to people sick with it because ordinary and healthy people couldn’t understand how the person can’t stop from taking something from supermarket referring such behaviour to bad education.

Kleptomania doesn’t suppose that kleptomaniac has no conscience. He/she really has it, simply he/she can’t fight his/her disease and such people must be medically treated. Kleptomania can be treated with the help of hypnosis. Unfortunately, only 15% of people ill with kleptomania turn to doctors for help.

Scientists have tried to solve the mystery of kleptomania for a long time already. This disease is unique that is why there are no theories how to fight it.

There are a lot of medical vocabularies and encyclopaedias that mention this disease. According to statistics about 5% of all burglars are kleptomaniacs in reality.

Kleptomaniac's world

After stealing a person lives on the got pleasure similar to the drug taker. When an ill person doesn't steal for a long time, he/she feels the discomfort and starts to steal again and again. And such fits are divided into several groups depending on the period of their lasting.

- The first group is made by rare fits and stealing that is changed by the long periods of waiting and not stealing.

- The second group is made by the long-lasting periods of stealing which are changed by the shorts and rare periods of waiting.

- The chronic kleptomaniacs make the third group with several levels of resistance.

Periods between stealing can last from one week to one month and even more. Practically at once kleptomaniacs start to feel guilty and are blaming themselves so they get rid of the stolen things by putting it secretly to the certain place.

Sometimes kleptomaniacs keep things they have stolen. There was the case when the man was stealing the caps made of furs from the shop. He was so interested in them that he had the whole collection at home; he liked to watch them and to touch them. When police found the collection, they asked him why he didn't sell all of them as he could get good sum of money. Such question offended the man a lot as he couldn't understand why he was supposed to sell these beautiful fur hats.

There is also the famous example of Henry IV that was kleptomaniac and returned the stolen things to his guests laughing at them.
